Scholarship Available to Qualifying Carroll Country
High School Seniors.
Release Date: After March 1.
A new scholarship of $1000 is available for seniors in Carroll County public high schools who have the potential to be the first in their family to graduate from a 4 year college.
The annual scholarship was announced this week by Tim Gaffney of
Jupiter, Florida in the name of his parents, Robert and Virginia Gaffney.
The Gaffney’s lived and worked in Carroll and Sac County for most of their lives, and raised 5 children who attended high school in the Breda. Robert L. Gaffney passed away in 1996. His wife Virginia is retired and lives in Carroll.
The 5 Gaffney children went on to graduate from higher education with a total of 10 college degrees. This scholarship, they say, has been created to thank their parents for their dedication to education, and to encourage others to also become the first in their families to earn a college degree. |
